  • Lameness

    Lameness is an abnormal gait of the horse. The severity of the lameness can be divided into 5 categories.

  • Laminitis

    Laminitis is the inflammation and congestion of the foot. It is an extremely painful process that constitutes a medical emergency because of the risks of aggravation and complications that can lead to death.

  • Lyme disease

    10% of ticks of the Ixodes ricinus species are carriers of Lyme disease bacteria (Borrelia burgdorferi). They transmit bacteria to their hosts – humans, dogs, horses – during blood meals.

  • Melanoma

    Often called “grey horse tumors”, melanomas affect up to 80% of older grey horses, although they can also be found in individuals of all coat colors.

  • Navicular Syndrome/disease

    Navicular disease or syndrome is a pathology feared by horse owners and riders. A cause of lameness in horses, it often leads to an early retirement. No single cause of navicular disease has been identified to date.

  • Renal function

    Kidneys constitute the second major elimination organ of the body, with the liver. Kidneys are positioned in the abdomen, under the lumbar vertebrae and are about 14-18 cm length with a somewhat bean shape.
